JOB DESCRITION.

Our client, an innovator in blockchain and Web3 technologies in Japan, is seeking an experienced Managing Director with an entrepreneurial growth mindset to lead their office. Based in Tokyo, this role will oversee operations, develop strategic partnerships, and drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies across key industries. As a senior leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the client’s growth strategy in Asia and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations:

• Lead a high-performing team, creating a culture of innovation, collaboration, and results.
• Define and execute a go-to-market (GTM) strategy that aligns with the client’s global vision while addressing local market needs.
• Take full ownership of the Japan business unit, including delivering on revenue, profitability, and operational goals.

Strategic Growth & Partnerships:

• Identify and engage with leading enterprises in industries such as finance, technology, media, and consumer goods to explore opportunities for blockchain and Web3 integration.
• Build deep, long-lasting relationships with strategic partners, negotiating and finalizing complex, high-value agreements.
• Monitor market trends, identify growth opportunities, and position the client as a leader in the Japanese blockchain ecosystem.
• Represent the client at industry events, conferences, and forums, serving as a thought leader and advocate for blockchain and Web3 technologies in Japan.

Collaboration & Innovation:

• Collaborate with global teams, including Product, Engineering, and Business Development, to align local initiatives with international strategies.
• Share insights and feedback from the Japanese market with internal teams to help shape innovative solutions tailored to local customer needs.
• Work cross-functionally with other regional leaders to integrate best practices and foster synergies across markets.

Qualifications

• Passionate about blockchain and Web3 with extensive understanding of blockchain and Web3 technologies
• Comprehensive understanding of Japan’s business culture, regulatory landscape, and market trends.
• An established network across industries such as finance, tech, and media is highly desirable.
• 10+ years of experience in business development, market expansion, or leadership roles within high-growth technology companies.
• Proven track record of negotiating and closing complex enterprise-level agreements.
• Experience scaling operations and managing P&L responsibilities in competitive markets.

Skills

• A strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to design creative solutions to complex challenges.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of motivating and developing high-performing teams.
• Exceptional communication skills in both Japanese and English (written and verbal), with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
